Meet the Founder
John Hay is the driving force behind CH4Housing – with years of experience in the gas industry, John saw firsthand how professionals working in social housing were often left to navigate safety and compliance challenges in isolation. He recognised a critical gap: a need for a dedicated space where gas professionals and industry leaders could connect, collaborate, and drive meaningful change together.
This vision led to the creation of CH4Housing, named after CH4 – the chemical symbol for methane, the primary component of natural gas. Just as methane is the foundation of the gas industry, CH4Housing aims to be the foundation for knowledge-sharing, innovation, and improved safety standards across the sector.
Under John’s leadership, CH4Housing has evolved from an idea into a thriving network, empowering gas professionals with the support, resources, and collective expertise needed to elevate safety standards. Now, with a clear mission to continue our expansion nationwide, John remains committed to transforming the perception of gas safety – not as a tick-box exercise, but as a collaborative effort that safeguards communities.
